Pintki's Statement:

"My art work expresses the thought that within each one of us resides a Higher Self, a Self separate from the ego.

This Self can be uncovered through awareness as one strives to lift the veils of this beautiful core being.
One can "lift off the lid" so to speak and access this Higher Self and thus find Peace, Joy, Light and Love.
"

From press release to Taos News:

"Lighthearted humor is the theme of her artwork: some of Pintki’s sculptures represent amusing Love and Light; some, tongue-in-cheek macabre humor. ‘Bountiful Creatures,’ as some art critics have called her human-like sculptures adorned with apples, grapes or pears, might have hands and feet but no head or head and one hand but no feet.

“Depicted in my sculptures are the yin and yang – the light and dark that exist in all of us,” Pintki, a 17-year Taos resident explained. “At our golden core, we are goodness and light, but there also exists a darker side at which we can only laugh.” Pintki’s sculptures are raku fired. Raku means enjoyment or pleasure in Japanese. To Pintki raku also means serendipity, excitement, joy and sometimes sorrow. “The whole gamut of emotions is fired up in Raku,” she commented. “The firing process was developed primarily to produce serving pieces for the Zen tea ceremony during the late 16th century in Japan. Introduced in the West in the early 1900s, it has only recently become popular with American ceramicists.

Some of the sculptures have lids adorned with fruit or angels. “Everyone wants to know what the fruit stands for. They’re forms representing abundance, whether it’s health, wealth, relationships, or whatever,” Pintki remarked. Many of the pieces represent her belief that there is a higher spiritual core within each of us which is often hidden but can come to light when we remove layers of ego and expose this inner core. “One can ‘lift off the lid,’ so to speak, and access their true self,” she concluded.

The marriage of spirituality and fine art is not the only coupling in Pintki’s life – she is also a Reiki Master Teacher and energy healer and an ordained interfaith minister. The weddings she officiates at are as unique as her artwork; from one performed on horseback in a field of buffaloes to a formal wedding where bride and groom both wore tuxedos.

Most sculptors draw study sketches of forms first; conversely Pintki works intuitively and draws the figures after the sculptures have been constructed, glazed and fired. Although the black on white drawings are in sharp contrast to the multi-colored sculptures, they complement each other well. Previous showings of Pintki’s work have been in galleries on the east coast including Manhattan and the Hamptons in New York.

Quote from New York Times:

"Pintki's pieces look a cross between Mexican folk art and Austrian baroque church decorations. They are utterly engaging. They are among the designs at Scarabaeaus on East 60th St., NYC"

Quote from Dan's Papers in the Hampton's, NY:

'Pintki is another potter who expresses spirituality through her own work. Her pieces are inspired by spontaneity, making her containers adorned with angels very special. One day perhaps the local art world will change its perceptions and catch up with other parts of the planet, like Japan, where ceramics are indeed respected as fine art"
